Read the latest issue of Special Delivery here, the RPA NICU newletter that talks to what's happening in the NICU, latest updates on staff, equipment, legislation and procedures and beautiful stories from past and present parents who have experienced the NICU journey.Scent Hearts
In May 2019 we shared a new initiative to provide NICU families with 'Scent Hearts'. Scent Hearts are given to mother’s whose newborn infants have been admitted to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The fabric heart is worn against the mother’s skin so that the fabric absorbs the scent of the parents. The heart is placed with the baby in the isolette or crib, so the mother is always with her child. This popular initiative is in need of being replenished so if you are interested in making some, check out the details hereWorld Prematurity Day 2022
World Prematurity Day on 17 November is one of the most important days in the year to raise awareness of the challenges and burden of preterm birth globally. We want all our wonderful supporters to help cover the NICU in little purple paper socks to represent the 1 in 10 babies that are born premature. Not only will this help raise awareness and funds for our many support programs but it also shows the current NICU families all the love for our teeny tiny little wonders here in Sydney! You can donate for a little purple sock hereMasks Wanted
Are you good at sewing? Want to help? As part of keeping the precious babies safe during this pandemic the RPA requires all visitors to wear a mask when entering the NICU. All details for the RPA NICU approved pattern are here and you can email us or check out our Facebook page which has regular updates
WHO IS LITTLE WONDER

Little Wonder is the Parents’ Fundraising and Support Committee for the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Newborn Intensive Care Unit.RPA Newborn Care in Sydney NSW provides the highest level of neonatal intensive care available in Australia. RPA Newborn Care looks after more than 950 sick and premature babies each year and not only do they provide intensive care services for babies born at RPA but also for babies transferred from hospitals that don’t have the same high level of intensive care facilities.
OUR BEGINNING
Founded in 2009 by a group of mums who had experienced firsthand the incredible work of RPA Newborn Care, Little Wonder was born. Our committee is dedicated to give back to the unit that saved our babies and allowed them to prosper. With the support of family and friends and in partnership with RPA staff, we raise funds to support the unit as well as the parents/carers of the babies through various programs. We are very proud to be recognised by the hospital as an official fundraiser.
